Rose and two thorns

The annual Rose and Two Thorns fixture sponsored by the late Bill Ray took place on Thursday 1st August
With the course in excellent condition and weather staying fine for most of the day a great days golf
was played by the 13 Roses and 26 Thorns
The after match ploughmans was very well received by all
The top three in reverse order were
3rd on count back  with 93 points  was Betty Ward Webb Neville Proctor Peter Webber
2nd by virtue of a better back nine was Jane Needham Simon Donnelly Alec Threlkald
And the winners on the day with 94 points were
Patsy Grimsey Jim Stewart and Paul Ansell
 where the winning team

 The first round of the Cranworth Trophy was played at Haverhill against Newton Green

 Brett Vale Team was Hilary Archer Patsy Grimsey Alison Stokes Jane Patterson Christine England Jane Burl Jo Bright Di Leach.Team Captain Sheila King

 After a very wet journey the weather improved and Brett Vale won after a very tense play off with Di Leach taking up the challenge and beating her opponent taking us through to the Quarter Final.

 This round should have been played at Bramford against Diss however due to high temperatures predicted for the date of the 25th July a decision was taken by the Suffolk County Ladies Golf Assocn to put everything back four weeks.This has meant the Quarter Final will now be played on Thursday 22nd August, Our thanks again to Jane Needham for her organisation.


The TAMS played their return fixture against Thorpeness with the weather staying fine but windy
and the course in excellent condition
Captain Neville’s team once again proved to be quite a force with a 6-0 win

TAMS vs Haverhill

The TAMS completed their double over Haverhill by winning todays home match
The course was once again in excellent condition and the after match meal was well received
The TAMS won the match 8-0 this was Captain Neville’s first  8-0 result and was very pleased with all round team effort
The team pairings were : Neville Proctor and Barry Root, Maurice Eccles and Peter Webber, Keith Ribbans and Richard Clayton
