Cranworth & Other County Matches

May County Competitions

The Cranworth

Our team played Newton Green away in the preliminary round.  It was a very close match which we sadly lost 5 and 4.    A fantastic team effort from all who participated. Thanks to players, reserves, caddies, supporters and a special thank you to Jane Needham who organised us all!  Well played Ladies, better luck next year!!

Senior County Championships

Very well done to Kristina Mathews for a respectable 10th place in this championship!

Division 3 Meeting at Seckford

Many Congratulations to:-

Jeanette Shea for winning the Silver Quaich Cup

Jeanette Shea, Catherine Le Tue and Tania Fuller for winning the Shield. (Best 3 scores).

Division 4 Meeting on 30 th April 2021 at St Audrys Golf Club

Well … what a delightful and most welcoming club St Audrys is. A charming venue with members only too willing to give their time to put on a great competition and share a few valuable tips on the course! Although as it’s a nine hole it gives us a chance to try to get it
right the second time round ..or not as the case may be ..(I managed to get in the same bunker both times)
A fun day was had by all and thankfully, despite thunderous looking clouds, it stayed dry throughout. Sadly, due to Covid restrictions, the committee were unable to host any kind of indoor hospitality , however hot drinks etc were in plentiful supply and much appreciated on a cold Friday afternoon. .
Many congratulations to the winning team of St Audrys along with the ladies overall winner who takes home possibly the biggest cup I’ve ever seen. Congratulations too to the green keeper who apparently was at the course pre-dawn getting it ready for the first tee off..which was much appreciated by the 29 competitors from 7 different clubs, a great turnout in these odd Covid days .
All in all a fun and thoroughly enjoyable day! (Carol Owens)

This is the first time Brett Vale has entered a Division Meeting. So well done Ladies.

The players were:-
Carol Owens who came an impressive 2 nd place! Jackie Gooday, Christine England, Lindsay Armes and Sheila King.

4th September 2019

After a very tough fight we were knocked out of the Cranworth Trophy by Diss Golf Club. A sterling effort by all the ladies who participated over the last months.

Thanks to the caddies who have supported the team through several rounds. Also a very big thank you to our Cranworth Captain Jane Needham and also to the Ladies Captain Sheila King.

We’ve shown that Brett Ladies are tough opposition but ladies who play in good sporting spirit.

The first round of the Cranworth Trophy was played at Haverhill against Newton Green

Brett Vale Team was Hilary Archer Patsy Grimsey Alison Stokes Jane Patterson Christine England Jane Burl Jo Bright Di Leach.Team Captain Sheila King

After a very wet journey the weather improved and Brett Vale won after a very tense play off with Di Leach taking up the challenge and beating her opponent taking us through to the Quarter Final.

This round should have been played at Bramford against Diss however due to high temperatures predicted for the date of the 25th July a decision was taken by the Suffolk County Ladies Golf Assocn to put everything back four weeks. This has meant the Quarter Final will now be played on Thursday 22nd August, Our thanks again to Jane Needham for her organisation.
